Jared Press

LEED® Accredited Professional and certified Sustainable Building Advisor  

Jared Press is a LEED® Accredited Professional and Sustainability Analyst for MindClick SGM™.  Specializing in sustainable development, green building and resource efficiency, Mr. Press has expertise in research, analysis and communications.  Through his work with MindClick SGM™, Mr. Press assists government and corporate clients improve their sustainability performance by conducting comprehensive resource, energy and waste audits and implementing sustainability initiatives.

Mr. Press holds a B.A. in History from the University of Michigan and a National Sustainable Building Advisor certificate through the New College of San Francisco.  The yearlong program culminated in an extensive research project that evaluated the challenges and opportunities of the redevelopment plans for the Bayview-Hunter's Point District of San Francisco.

Mr. Press began his foray into sustainable development at the Smart Growth Alliance in Washington, DC, a non-profit urban planning organization, working on both of the organization’s flagship programs, the Recognition Program and Regional Conservation Priorities List.  It was here that he was introduced to the LEED certification process. While conducting an analytical evaluation of the Recognition Program, which encompassed 50 D.C. Metropolitan area development projects, Mr. Press learned firsthand of the obstacles preventing well-intentioned developers from achieving, and in some cases from even applying, for LEED certification.  This experience has shaped Mr. Press’ approach to LEED, as he strives to provide prospective accreditation and certification applicants with the tools navigate the program’s complex technical and procedural aspects.

Since relocating to the Bay Area, Mr. Press has served as Managing Director of the Green Century Institute (GCI), an urban and environmental planning nonprofit organization committed to large-scale sustainable development. He managed multiple programs, including GCI’s EcoCity Feasibility Study and Project Indonesia Initiative.

 

Rebecca Anderson

Master of Environmental Health and Safety, LEED AP O&M, Certified Sustainable Building Advisor  

Rebecca is an environmental specialist at UC Berkeley, specializing in air and water protection as well as sustainability for the built environment. Having worked in operations for a high-tech research facility and now a major University, Rebecca is familiar with many types of facilities. Rebecca is currently involved in multiple Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects on campus seeking Operations & Maintenance certification, including serving as Lead for the University Hall O&M project. In addition to presenting training for UC Berkeley staff in students in the area of green building, Rebecca is an instructor at UC Berkeley Extension teaching courses in green building and environmental protection program management.

Rebecca has been very involved in EH&S and green building organizations throughout her career, including serving as the Vice President the Northern California Chapter of the Semiconductor Environmental and Safety Association (SESHA), Academic Committee Chair and Lecture Tour Coordinator for SESHA and Professional Development Conference Chair of the Bay Area Environmental Safety Group. Rebecca is currently an active member of the Northern California USGBC Chapter and Sustainable Building Advisor Alliance and recently had the chance to serve as a Beta-Tester for the LEED Operations & Maintenance and Green Associate accreditation exams.

 

Kelly Gearhart

LEED Faculty    

Kelly Gearhart’s passion for enhancing the sustainability of the built construction environment has driven her career into green building. An active member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Gearhart participates in activities promoting green building including education, outreach, and consulting.

Gearhart’s firm, Triple Green Building Group, provides technical expertise, education, and green building support to building owners and design, construction, operations and maintenance professionals. Focused on the triple bottom line, Gearhart works to improve the economic, environmental, and social outcomes of her clients’ building projects.

Gearhart is currently working on an office building seeking LEED Gold certification, a public school seeking LEED Silver certification, the successful adoption of Local Government Toolkits supporting California’s carbon reduction goals, and the development of green building courses for the University of California, Berkeley.

LEED Projects/Involvement:
Across the U.S. and internationally, Gearhart has served as the LEED project administrator on 22 LEED projects and as a consultant on over 65 LEED projects for clients including Atlanta Public Schools, IKEA, The Lovett School, Southwest High School, Southface Energy Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology, W.W. Grainger, Philips Arena, Callaway Gardens, and the YMCA. Gearhart has worked on projects ranging from LEED Certified to LEED Platinum using rating systems including LEED for new construction and major renovations, existing buildings: operations and maintenance, schools, core & shell, commercial interiors, homes and retail.

Kelly Toole

LEED AP ID&C     

Kelly has 10 years in interior design and green building planning. She received her bachelor's degree in Interior Design from Eastern Michigan University, a FIDER accredited design school in Michigan. During and post graduation she worked for the University of Michigan Housing Design Group space-planning for student housing and surveying for engineering systems such as fire and security. For the past 5 years Kelly has been in San Francisco specializing in commercial office interiors.

Kelly has been on the forefront of LEED introduction in the contract furnishings industry. She has extensive experience in green product technical specifications and has contributed to numerous LEED Certified projects including the San Francisco Federal Building, GCI Contractors, Lucas Digital Arts, GSA and City and County projects in the Bay Area. Kelly prides herself in her tutorial skills and green education research. She participates in numerous organizations such as the USGBC, Emerging Green Builders, Green Drinks San Francisco and IIDA (International Interior Designers Association)
